A TOMCAT CAN LOOK AT A QUEEN

Would it please you to know I find you lovely ?
That your fair head can turn my head with ease ?
That, as you walk before me, the sweet motion
Reminds me of cool water and green trees ?

Or would you say, contemptuous, or in anger,
You do not care, and I presume too much ?
Then, like a child, hating the stern injunction,
I still will look, although I may not touch.
