CLASSICLE POME

When you frown
Orpheus at Hades' portal weeps
For lost Eurydice;
Troilus aches for Cressida
For all her perfidy;
And Hero from her window
Sees her love Leander drown
When you frown.

When you smile
Then Beatrice smiles on Dante
And makes his heart rejoice;
Robert, in quiet Wimpole Street,
Hears the loved Barrett voice;
And Antony surrenders
To the dark Egyptian's wile
When you smile.

So never frown if I should cross your way;
Smile, smile again, and light a poet's day.
